Asia Argento is an Italian actor and director of films who was born into a large family of both. She's taken on these two careers for her own. Her debut came at the age of nine in the film of Sergio Citti's Sogni e bisogni (1985). She played the lead in the film as Cristina Comencini in her first film Zoo in 1989. Michele Soavi directed The Church 1989. In 1989, she played Nanni Moretti's (also directed) daughter in Red Wood Pigeon. Close Friends (1992), written and directed by Michele Placido was the film that launched Asia's acting path. It was her first time moving between roles for young girls to mature and complex ones. Cannes International Film Festival received the movie well. Trauma was the first film she made by her father. Her mother, Daria Nicoledi is Argento's favourite actress. The film Trauma she portrayed an anorexic looking for the killer of her parents. The Phantom of the Opera is the third film she has acted in with her Father, her first two movies being Trauma and The Stendhal Syndrome. Asia's dedication and passion for acting has also been used in the film by Giuseppe Piccioni in Condannato a Nozze. Patrice Chereau directed Queen Margot for which she was also in a key role. The collaboration she had alongside Michel Piccoli, in Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion won her yet another award from David di Donatello as well as Grolla of Oro. Asia began directing for a career in 1994. Her first short film was Prospettive. A documentary she made about her dad and then Abel/Asia (1998) the film that won a prize during the Rome Film Festival and was each directed between 1996 and 1998. Asia debuted as a feature-length director with Scarlet Diva (2000). In the film, she was also the lead actress and wrote the screenplay. In May 2000, the film was made available both in Italy and across the world. It received a prestigious prize at the Williamsburg Film Festival in Brooklyn. Anna Lou was her first born daughter in 2001. After directing several music videos, she welcomed Anna Lou. In 2002, she starred as Jean-Marc Bar's co-star The Red Siren (Olivier Megaton) as well as Vin Diesel was the star of Rob Cohen's thriller action The Action. Asian's short stories have been published in some of the most prestigious magazines.
